In a ever changing world of technology and screen-time, the feeling of nostalgia that a round of
bowling conjures seems all the more delightful. Meeting up with friends to partake in the social
sport that was so popular back in the 40s and 50s is still a favourite of my husband and we
especially love All Star Lanes in Bayswater.
This bowling alley has been themed and decorated with a nod to the 1950s and not only has bowling lanes, but a bar and restaurant with classic American style food and big red vinyl booths!
I know what you’re thinking - this sounds the perfect place for a 50s party, right? RIGHT! And that’s exactly what went down on the eve of September 15th, aptly named ‘Pins & Pinups’
All Star Lanes teamed up with Campbell Crafts to create one epic night of bowling, shopping and music.
Ticket holders received a drink upon arrival and were treated to American style canapés through the night. There were several store selling their gorgeous wares like Luxulite, Retro Peppers, What Katie Did and of course Campbell Crafts, who organised the event with All Star Lanes and who’s own brand range fitted the theme completely!
After a little bit of shopping, catching up with friends and making new ones, plus a cocktail or
two, it was time to listen to some of the bands and even have a bit of a dance! There were two
bands playing - Betty and the Bootleggers and My Favourite Things and they both helped to
create such a fun bowling alley party scene!
Of course, the night wouldn’t have been complete without a round or two of bowling and by the
end, there were some very - shall we say - creative bowling techniques... I’m not sure that they
helped get more points on the screen but they certainly providing a lot of laughs and
entertainment!
